Welcome to Essex TLC

To be school ready can start from birth…

TLC is an Essex campaign helping parents, carers and families give their young children the best start to life, developing their communication skills through playful learning at home.
Let's Get Started

Your Child's Age

As parents, you are the most important people in your baby’s early development.
The way you talk and play with your baby can make a real difference to how they develop and learn. Babies and young children grow and develop at different rates, and there’s a big range of ‘normal’ in development. But you know your child best. If you have any concerns about your child’s speech and language development, ask your health visitor, GP, or early years setting for some guidance and support. Select your child's age group to find all of our resources, games, links and tips suitable for their age and stage of development.
