The magic of bubbles!
You don’t need to understand the science behind it to have fun marvelling at the sizes, colours and movement together!

Top tips:
- Encourage your child to ‘have a go’: if you hold the pot of bubbles and give your child the wand to run off and play with, they can keep coming back and asking for more whether that be through verbal communication or hand gestures such as pointing
- Model key words to your child: you can use words with your child, such as ‘open’ and ‘close’ for the pot of bubbles, ‘pull’ for taking out the wand, and ‘blow’ or ‘pop’ for the bubbles
- Make conversation with your child: you can talk about what makes a bubble pop? Where do bubbles disappear to?
- Talk to your child about different shapes and sizes: ask them if they want a big bubble or small bubble – if they are not yet talking, encourage them to use gestures such as big wide arms if they want a big bubble
- Get creative with your child: you could make up your own bubble mixture with some washing up liquid and a little water, and have a go at making your own bubble wands in different shapes using pipe cleaners
- Turn it into a mark making activity: grab some paint brushes and use your bubble mixture to mark make on the pavement
